Alresford Surgery aims to provide high quality healthcare to patients in our area. The doctors, nurses and other staff are dedicated to providing a comprehensive, professional service and with this website we aim to keep our patients up to date with news and information about the practice.

As well as a source of information about our practice, the staff and the services we provide, we hope you will use this website as a useful resource for other health-related information. We are currently trialling a new online system called eConsult.  This enables patients over the age of 18 to access immediate self help advice for a range of conditions and symptoms without the need to attend the surgery. It can also be used to send an e-consultation to your GP who will reply within 72 hours.  Click on the box below to start using the system.

Changes to our appointment system

As all our patients will be aware General Practice is currently facing enormous pressures and demand for GP appointments is increasing all the time. Despite boosting the number of appointments available over the last year we are still, unfortunately, seeing longer waiting times than we would all like.

 In order to try and cope with this escalating demand we have spent the last six months reviewing and re-designing our appointment system.  From March 2017 we are implementing a new appointment system which will further increase the number of appointments available each week, but not all of them will be face-to-face appointments. 

Our reception team have received additional training.  When you call to book an appointment or with other enquiries, they will ask you a few more questions so that your request is dealt with by the right person in the most efficient manner.  This should not be intrusive.  You may be offered a telephone consultation rather than a face-to-face appointment if this is more appropriate and suitable to the situation.  We hope that this will allow greater scope for patients to receive continuity of care from their preferred doctor who knows them best.  Patients who are acutely unwell and need same-day attention will, as always, receive a call back from a member of the duty team (this may be a doctor or a nurse) who will assess your problem and treat as necessary.

 In addition to the changes to our appointment system we are also removing some administrative burden from our GPs.  If you have a query about test results, a hospital referral or an insurance or other report these will all be dealt with, in the first instance, by a member of our secretarial or admin teams.
